Duxbury Braille Translator

DBT is simple to use--beginners learn in just minutes. Yet its depth, power and accuracy are such that it is used by most of the major braille production centers throughout the world. Customers who have a license for the GOODFEEL Braille Music Translator from Dancing Dots can also insert references to Lime music notation files into your Duxbury print document and produce a unified braille master containing both literary and music braille. The current version (11.1 or later) provides the following at no extra charge:
  • New Undo and Redo features.
  • New Auto save feature.
  • New & Improved Find and Replace dialogs are more flexible
  • New Change Case feature has been added, and is accessible using Shift-F3
  • New A margin bell can be enabled for braille entry.
  • Enhanced JAWS scripts add support for braille document input and review & JAWS 7.1.
  • Changes to UK Braille As you may be aware, the Braille Authority of the United Kingdom (BAUK) introduced changes to the British English braille code which came into effect in August 2006. Many major braille producers have now implemented the new rules. All educational Examination Boards will use the new rules for this academic year's exam papers.
  • New Templates included for every supported language. New BANA templates have been introduced. The Word template file is now called BANA Braille 2006. When importing to DBT, two templates are available; one is specifically for Nemeth documents.
  • Input DBT Codes in Word – If you prefer working with Word as your text editor, you may now input DBT codes in Word itself. You may optionally make those codes “Hidden Text” which in turn will not normally affect the appearance of the print document.
  • New enhanced installation and activation process.
  • Improved Support for custom embosser definitions and IMPROVED Handling of virtually all embossers.
  • DBT can now optionally read publishers page numbers.
  • New Customizable behavior of Alt-3 ("CBC"), CTRL-Enter ("New page"), and Enter
  • New vertical page centering.
  • New Graphics supported for the Romeo Attache.
  • New A /template command line option allows desired template to be specified for imported files.
  • New /brf and /prf command line options make it possible to use DBT as a file-to-file translation tool.
  • Improved Braille-Build can build fonts with California spacing, Marburg spacing for EU signmakers, Marburg Medium spacing for the EU Pharmaceutical requirements, and customizable for thermal paper, thermoform and other processes.
  • Many language translation tables have been added or substantially updated.
  • Additional language interfaces have been added.
  • Documentation in French developed at AVH in Paris is now included.
